India’s first self-service fuel pump started In Pune

Pune | 27th June 2020
For the first time in India, a self-service fuel pump has been introduced in Pune. It’s the Bharat Petroleum fuel pump near the Regional Transport Office in Pune that has become the first to introduce this service in the country, getting rid of the system which required a fuel attendant to do the job for the person.

The customer will be given a total of three options to refill his or her vehicle at the station.

Fill by Volume: The customers enter the number of litres they wish to add to their fuel tank.
Amount: The customer enters the amount for which he or she wishes to pour in the fuel in the vehicle
Full Tank: The third and final option is to fill the entire tank with the fuel. In this case, the customer has to enter 500 litres on the machine and put the nozzle in the fuel filler. As soon as the tank reaches its limit, the fuel supply will automatically cut off.

It’s a big step in the direction of learning to live with Coronavirus, which could be here to stay for sometime.

Initially, the petrol pump will have helpers to guide customers with the machines. Hand sanitisers will be available so we can take proper precautions to curb the spread of Covid-19.
