SRIDEVI- The Goldengirl and the crush of India passes away

If there was one actress who can be hailed as the most graceful and beautiful person inside out from Bollywood, it has to be surely Sridevi. The Goldengirl who swooned crores of men and was a crush of the 1980’s passed away in an untimely manner in Dubai due to accidental drowning in a bathtub after suffering a stroke.

One of the legit actresses who was blessed not only with the good looks which can make anyone go weak in their knees but also had extra oridinary acting skills which made her one of the most talented Bollywood actresses india has ever come across.

Sridevi a recipient of various awards in her illustrious career was regarded as the ‘first female superstar India got to see”. She was the reigning queen of Bollywood in the 80’s and 90’s coming with meaningful blockbuster films which made her a household name. At a time when only Heroes achieved super stardom and heroines were considered just a sugar candy in Bollywood films, Sridevi became a bonafide star with her powerful acting skills and box office success. It was after her stardom, Bollywood started appreciating female leads more, it was after her stardom, heroines started believing that they can also achieve the same amount of success as heroes do.

One of the highest paid actresses of Bollywood had a career spanning over 4 decades in bollywood where she started acting at the age of 4 as a child artist and acted till the last breath. An actress with a mould of a clay who has acted in over 200films in over 5languages like Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Sridevi’s camaraderie in films with brother in law Anil Kapoor, Jeetendra and Kamal Hasaan was widely recognized in the80’s where she did a lot of blockbuster films with them.

Out of her 63 Bollywood movies, she had a success ratio of 85% which is still the best amongst all the actresses and is a benchmark for many to achieve. Most of her films had a strong or a nice message and were meaningful too.  Some of her best works include in the movies like Chandni which made her a bonafide superstar, Yaalgar, Sadma, Mr.India which went on to become one of the all time hits and a cult movie, Chaalbaaz, Lamhe, Judaai and the recently released English Vinglish a few years ago which was also one of the most sweetest and impactful movies of 21st century.

Sridevi who was aged 54 left behind a wonderful legacy for her young daughters Jhanvi and Khushi as she will always be remembered as one of the original Goldengirl of Indian Cinema. May god rest her soul in peace and gift the world with one more Sridevi soon!
