Kamshet
Kamshet is a hill station which is located in maharashtra. It is about 2200 ft above the sea level.It is nested in western ghats and about 110 km from Mumbai City, and 45 km from Pune in Pune district. It is 16 km from the twin hill stations of Khandala and Lonavala and is accessible by road and rail from Mumbai (Bombay) and Pune. Luscious green cover, placid lakes and undulating hilly terrains make it a perfect holiday destination.
The hills in and around Kamshet are dotted with ancient cave temples and medieval fortresses. The world-class paragliding facilities attract a large number of flying sport aficionados to Kamshet. Eight months of reliable and predictable weather conditions make it the most sought after and most popular flying site in the country. Winter months ( October to February) offer dynamic thermic conditions and Summer months (February to May) allow for dynamic ridge soaring conditions.
Large landing areas and medium altitude hills and ridges make Kamshet ideal for learning paragliding and fun flying.
Soaring over the Pawna Lake and gliding over the beautiful countryside, provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you don’t have the stomach for flying, you can also just watch enthusiasts, trek up the Tower Hill, Shelar or Kondeshwar Cliff. Apart from paraglidinng, you can also visit the Kondeshwar Temple, Bhairi Caves and Bhandar Dongar.
Kamshet has limited places to stay so tourists generally prefer to stay at Lonavla orKhandala and visit Kamshet for adventurous pursuits. Resorts and paragliding tour operators also offer comfortable options to stay. Some tour operators offer dormitories and tents at nominal rates.
Kamshet doesn’t offer much in terms of options to eat. Roadside shacks and dhabas in Kamshet offer basic food with limited variety.
