Rajgad Fort

Rajgad is Located in Bhuleshwar Mountains Range . The height of Rajgad from sea level is 4250 feet. Rajgad is just about 65 kms from Pune and it is one of the nearest trekking destinations from Pune.Formerly it is known as “Murumdevacha Dongar”, it is one of the most favorite fort of Shivaji Maharaj & it ruled as a Capital of Maratha Kingdom for more than 25 years.Rajgad is a fort located near Bhor. Rajgad offers spectacular views of Sahyadri Mountains. One can see Sinhagad and Torna fort from Rajgad.Rajgad is amongst the most popular trekking destinations near Pune.

A majestic fort Rajgad, offers a panoramic view of the surroundings and the best time to visit the Rajgad fort is just after monsoons however one would find trekkers in Rajgad fort on weekends through out the year!The base village for the Rajgad trek is Gunjawane and the most popular trekking route to Rakgad is via Chor darwaja leading to the Padmavati machi. Rajgad trek will take approx 4hrs.
There are several trek routes that one can take from Gunjawane – the base village for the trek to Rajgad, however the route via the ‘chor dawaja’ leading to the Padmavati machi is the most frequented route. The trek route via ‘Pali darwaja’ from Pali village is the easiest but longest route to Rajgad.

Balekilla :-
Balekilla is located in middle of fort and This is top spot on Fort .
Padmavati Machi :
This machee is one of the important structures on the fort. There are three machi on this fort suvela machi , padhmavati machi and sanjivani machi those machi constructed for holded attacks from enemy . near padmavati machi you will see ammunition depot , near meeting place called “sadar”.
Padmavati Temple :
This is temple of goddess padmavati. This temple is used as shelter by trekker for overnight trak. Around 30 to 50 member can stay in padmavati temple. Padmavati lake is nearly located to the padmavati temple. people used this lake for drink water . their is another lake on the fort called ardhchandra lake,
Pali darvaja :
Throgh The pali village route you reach this door to enterd in Fort. Pali darvaja this door Construction is still intact.Trakker Take this route to Enter The Fort .
Rajgad is surely one of the most alluring treks and absolute paragon of high class architecture of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Rajgad has spell bounded many trekkers with its mammoth size, sky touching height and wide spread.
