Moreshwer Ganesh Mandir Temple
A very significant part of the Ashtavinayaka pilgrimage, the Moreshwar temple is located in the Baramati Taluka of Pune district in the state of Maharashtra. There was a time when the region had uncountable number of peacocks residing in the region to make it look so beautiful and consequently it was named Moreshwar. The striking fact is that the entire region is in the shape of a peacock. It is also known as Bhuswanand Bhuvan. A Maharashtrian devotee of Lord Ganesha is believed to have born, survived and died here. Agriculturally productive area this is with ample production of sugarcane, grapes, wheat and other crops. It is situated along the Karha River. This temple was built before 17th century AD.
The temple has four entrances. Each gate faces the cardinal direction and has an image of Ganesha. Each of these images describes his avatar in the four yugas. The eastern gate has the image of Ballalvinayaka accompanied by Rama’s image with Sita. This gate is symbolic of dharma (righteousness). Vignesha at the southern gate, flanked by Ganesha’s parents Shiva and Parvati (Uma) symbolizes Artha (wealth and fame). The western gate has chintamani which represents kaam (desire). The northern gate has Mahaganpati in a standing posture which symbolizes moksha (salvation).
How to Reach There?
You can take bus from Pune to Morgaon or there are also special buses, which are called Astha Vinayak darshan, which takes tourists to all the eight temples; it is run by government of Maharashtra and also by private operators.

• Karha River
If you are visiting Moreshwar temple, you wouldn’t want to miss this. It is said that when Lord Brahma brought auspicious waters from all the pilgrimages; they split and formed the Karha River. It is a very auspicious and devotional river. Seven spots in the river are known to purify you from all your sins.
• Jadbharat
Jadbharat is yet another place of religious importance here. Located towards North of the Karha River, this place has five lings on a rock.
• Nagnabhairav
This place is about half a kilometer away towards the east of Morgaon. It is believed that Nagnabhiarav is the Kshetrapal / caretaker of this region.
